Hershey Kiss Flowers and Tutorial

A bouquet of flowers and chocolate? Yes please!
I first stumbled upon this idea here on Flickr when I was researching my felt Hershey Kiss pattern. The photographer gives a quick paragraph how-to. I documented the steps with photographs for a more detailed tutorial. I am a visual learner so to the other visual learners out there - this one's for you. I also used fabric and felt instead of saran wrap and fake rose leaves. I think they are cuter that way but anything with fabric and felt is cuter in my humble opinion. : )
What you need to make one flower: a 5"x5" scrap piece of fabric, 2 felt leaves, 2 Hershey Kisses, 1 wooden cooking skewer, and floral tape.

1. Stack the Hershey Kisses together.
2. Set the Kisses gently into the middle of the scrap of fabric.
3. Wrap the fabric around to make it look like a rose bud.

4. Grab it by the base.
5. Gently tuck the skewer into the fabric. It will lie right between the bottom Kiss and the fabric.
6. Start wrapping with floral tape.

7. Wrap the skewer all the way to the bottom to finish off the stem.
Let's add the leaves.
8. Place the leaves over the base of the flower. 9. Start wrapping again with floral tape.
10. I just tape a few inches down to just encase the leaves and give more stability to the flower. You do not have to wrap all the way down the skewer/stem again.
Finished!

  1. You've done it again! They are awesome especially for people like me who are allergic to real flowers. Perhaps my husband should special orders these from you and for once in our 12 years together I will actually get flowers for Valentine's Day!

I entered one myself. Also, if you are interested, I made two things from the Wee Wonderfuls book. I've loved seeing the things you've made from it!

  8. Absolutely lovely! I'm sold on your idea. I was going to make a bouquet for my Valentine's dinner with the regular (saran paper) ones and decided against it. I was just wondering about the kind of fabric to use. I mean how "malleable" it should be, if you get my meaning?
